Rachel Carrillo will spend her Fulbright year teaching English at a university in Morocco, where she hopes to encourage her students to explore American culture and identity. Previously a Gilman Scholarship recipient, Rachel is originally from Norwell, Massachusetts, and graduated in 2015 with a dual degree in Communication and French & Francophone Studies and a minor in Arabic Language. During her time at UMass, Rachel gained experience working with students through her job at Disability Services, as well as through her RA role to freshman residents. Upon returning from her Fulbright year, Rachel plans to apply for the Pickering fellowship with the hope of eventually joining the Foreign Service.
